With her talk show renewed for a second season, Queen Latifah is making Los Angeles her home base for now. Good thing, since her show won The People’s Choice Award for best new talk show.
That means the New Jersey native is willing to let go of the first home she bought back in the Garden State.
Queen Latifah, whose name is Dana Owens, has listed her Colts Neck, NJ estate for $2.399 million. Listing agent Robin Jackson of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage is in charge of finding a new owner for the 9-acre spread that features an inviting, Olympic-size swimming pool.
Latifah, 43, bought the 7,500-square-foot home back in 2001, for $1.685 million, then had the 6 bed, 8-bath place customized.
The Monmouth County property is about 20 minutes from the Jersey shore, and about an hour south of New York City. It’s also a pretty easy commute to Philadelphia.
“Many incredible memories have been shared with those closest to me and my family in this home,” Queen Latifah said in a statement. “I am confident that the new owners will love the home and the Colts Neck community as much as I do.”
The Wall Street Journal reported that one item will probably not be included in the sale: A Yamaha piano emblazoned with a New York City skyline. The piano was played by Alicia Keys in the Jay Z music video for “Empire State of Mind.” Latifah bought it in a charity auction.
“I don’t think she’s going to sell the piano,” Jackson told the WSJ.
