South-of-Fifth, Terra Group's Slender GLASS Palace Tops Off

GLASS, the 18-story, 10-unit ultra luxury, Rene Gonzalez-designed, tower that Terra Group is building at 120 Ocean Drive topped off on Friday with the traditional hoisting of a tree to the roof and a celebration with the construction crew. And although the future glass-a-palooza (it will look like a victorian iceberg by the time it's finished) is still mostly a concrete box, some windows are already in. The glass-ification has begun.

Don Johnson Selling Sprawling Montecito View Home

BY EMILY HEFFTER
ZILLOW

The ‘Miami Vice’ star and his wife wanted more space for horses, so they are selling the Montecito mansion they bought last year.
This Montecito view home is about as far as you can get from the vice beat in Miami. Actor Don Johnson bought this sprawling farmhouse last year for $12.5 million but decided to sell it when he and his wife found another property with space for their horses.
The home they are selling — it comes on the market for $14.9 million today — sits on 2.5 acres but requires them to board their horses. The property has a pool and meandering trails, all with gorgeous views of the Pacific Ocean.
Previous owners remodeled and updated the original 1959 property, which had also been expanded by the previous owners before that. Each renovation seemed to come with more amenities. The home has a 1-bedroom, 1-bath, 2-story guesthouse, a reverse-osmosis pool, an organic vegetable garden, a gym, a media room and a glass solarium where Johnson liked to drink his coffee in the morning.
“They really love this house,” said listing agent Kathrin Nicholson of The Agency. The children’s bedrooms open up to view terraces, and the property includes an in-ground trampoline, a music room and an open family room that connects by glass doors to the patio by the pool.

Simple Fixes for Common Appliance Problems - Dishwasher

By the DIY experts of The Family Handyman Magazine

When your dishwasher no longer gets your dishes clean, a food-filled filter is most often to blame. If it's clogged, water can't make it to the spray arms to clean the dishes in the top rack. The fix takes two minutes. Simply pull out the lower rack and remove the filter cover inside the dishwasher. (Check your owner's manual if you can't spot the filter.) Then use a wet vacuum to clean off the screen.
While you're there, slide the nearby float switch up and down. If it's jammed with mac and cheese, you won't get any water. If the cover sticks, jiggle it up and down and clean it with water.
Clean out debris
Clean the filter and float switch if the dishes don't come out clean.

Online Mortgage Quotes

From enlightenme.com

Online mortgage quotes can help you to determine how much your mortgage will cost you. By surveying a variety of online sites, you can input your information and determine what you will pay each month in interest, as well as your total monthly payment for a mortgage. You can also apply for and be approved for online mortgages, locking in your mortgage quotes and giving you the opportunity to perhaps find a lower rate than you would be able to obtain from a local lender. The following websites provide online mortgage quotes

Finding Online Mortgage Quotes

When shopping for online mortgage quotes, you can go to the websites of individual lenders to get a quote or even apply for a mortgage online. However, you can also use sites that allow you to access different mortgage quotes directly from a number of competing lenders. Using these sites for online mortgage quotes can help you compare loan options over a variety of lenders while saving you time by not requiring you to apply for each loan or quote individually.
  • Mortgage 101 provides an interface in which you can obtain up to four free mortgage quotes from lenders instantaneously. Select the property type: single family home, condominium, townhouse, mobile home or commercial property. You can then fill in information about your credit rating, selecting whether the rate is between bad and excellent. Choose the type of loan you need- purchase, home equity or refinance- and input details pertaining to estimated home value, desired loan amount, and gross monthly income. If you are looking for online refinance quotes, you also need to input details about the balance and rate of first mortgage, interest rate and loan type. Once you have input your details, quotes and rates are immediately available from up to four lenders.
  • National Mortgage provides a similar service to Mortgage 101. The home page asks for your postal zip code as well as other details including loan purpose, which can be to purchase, to refinance, to improve your home or to consolidate debt. You also need to input your credit rating, property type, income, loan information and whether you have ever applied for bankruptcy. Online mortgage quotes are provided immediately from several lenders depending on your situation.
  • Mortgage Quotes.com is yet another such source that offers quotes from lenders instantaneously. Here too there are tabs to enter your relevant details and lenders provide immediate quotes. Their loan comparison features make deciding on a mortgage lender easy, and they also offer a series of useful information on applying for a mortgage.

Using Online Mortgage Quotes

Online mortgage quotes can be a useful starting point for research and can help you determine the average rate you will pay for your mortgage. Whether you opt to go with an in-person lender or a lender you find over the Internet, you should take the time to review online mortgage quotes to be better prepared to make your mortgage decision.

John Legend Lists Zen Hollywood Hills Retreat

BY CATHERINE SHERMAN
zillow
The home was designed to have a creative vibe for the singer-songwriter.
John Legend and his wife, model Chrissy Teigen, are selling their Hollywood Hills home for $1.995 million. For the past 7 years, the home has been a creative refuge for the award-winning musician.
According to Architectural Digest, designer Don Stewart was inspired by the home’s mid-century architecture, which reminded him of a Thai temple. He worked with the couple to design the home acoustically for low sound, tranquility and a creative vibe using basalt stone and baked oak flooring, etched teak cabinetry and other organic elements.
Of note, the home has internalized and insulated rain gutters, so when it rains you hear the rain, not the drain spouts. There’s also a tranquil patio, outdoor soaking tub, fountains and wooden hot tub, extending the Zen atmosphere outdoors.
The singer-songwriter’s primary residence is in the Big Apple, but he reportedly travels to L.A. fairly often. He recorded songs for his current album, “Love in the Future,” in the home’s state-of-the-art studio.
Steven Moritz of Sotheby’s International Realty holds the listing.
